After ten years away, Moni, a gay Samoan man, returns to Sydney determined not to miss his sister Hana's wedding. But an unexpected arrival throws things into disarray.

My father Cesar thought I was going to take over his grill restaurant in Ecuador, but I decided to pursue art instead and went to Germany. Ten years later he calls me to let me know that his restaurant is bankrupt, that he has not paid the rent in over two years and is in debt to the bank. After years of no contact, saving the restaurant becomes our joint project. Cesar's Grill tells the story of my return to Ecuador, where I, the vegetarian son, try to solve the problems of my passionately carnivorous father. What starts out as an absurd mission, develops to be a touching story about unfulfilled expectations, becoming an adult and responsibility for each other.

Tara is denied electricity bill support by Social Services, who tells her to simply get a free grill instead - a task that leads Tara into uncomfortable situations. Inspired by true events, "Grill" offers a satirical look at how a rich country in Scandinavia deals with poverty.

It's 1959 in a seedy bar in Philadelphia, and Billie Holiday is giving one of her last performances interlaced with salty, often humorous, reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music 4 months before her death.
